An adjective is a word which describes or gives additional meaning or information about a noun or a pronoun. An adjective usually comes before the noun that it modifies or describes. Let us look at some examples:

He has a big boat.
There is a green tree on top of a steep hill.
There are strange-looking fish living at the bottom of deep oceans.

However, adjectives can also come after the noun as in the following example.
The man is tall.

More than one adjective can be used to describe a noun.

Hafsa is kind and happy.
Hafsa is kind, generous and beautiful.

We will look into more detail of adjectives in another lesson.
